After a light Monday night schedule, here?s an abbreviated look at who performed above their ownership. Ownership from ESPN leagues is included in parentheses, as usual. We?ll return to our regular full breakdown?tomorrow, but here?s a quick look at last night?s sleepers.
C- Chris Snyder ? Hou:?(0.0%) Snyder divides the catching role in Houston with Jason Castro and had a nice night last night going 1-2 with a pair of runs scord and an RBI along with a pair of walks. He?s batting just .196 but does have 17 RBI and three home runes in 32 games.
1B- Brandon Belt ? SF: (21.4%) 2-2 with a double and a run scored along with a pair of walks and a stolen base. He?s heating up with consecutive hits in seven games with three home runs and seven RBI during that span.
2B- Ryan Theriot ? SF: (9.1%) The Giants two-hole hitter had his second consecutive 3-5 game with two RBI and a steal. He?s batting .275 on the year with seven steals and 14 RBI as the Giants regular second-baseman.
3B- Luis Valbuena ? CHC: (0.0%) In just five games with the Cubs he has two home runs and seven RBI while hitting .294 after his 3-5 performance last night with a three-run home run.
SS- Brian Bixler ? Hou: (0.0%) The Astros utility-man hit his first home run of his MLB career last night while going 3-5 with a double and a home run. He has a .313 average through his first 14 games with three steals, the home run, and five RBI total. He has a .389 OBP and could be worth a look if he gets regular time due to his positional flexibility.
OF- Tony Campana ? ChC: (19.9%) Campana continues to steal bases with another 1-4 with a run scored and a steal last night. He has 24 in 48 games played and will give you lots of steals when he?s in the lineup.
OF- Justin Maxwell ? Hou: (1.5%) In sporadic playing time, Maxwell had shown potential with eight home runs, 24 RBI, a steal, and 22 runs scored while hitting .246. He went 2-3 last night with two runs scored, a double, three RBI, a home run, and two walks.
OF- Casper Wells ? Sea: (0.2%) Wells has made the most of his time since getting recalled and went 2-4 with a double and an RBI last night. He?s hit in five straight while going 8-16.
AL Starting Pitcher- Jake Arrieta ? Bal: (4.8%) Not much in the way of underowned starting pitching, but Arrieta was the best there was going seven innings against the Mets. He allowed four runs, six hits, and a walk while striking out four. All the runs he gave up were on Ike Davis? grand slam but he was able to avoid other trouble while going seven for his second straight start.
NL Starting Pitcher- Jason Marquis ? SD: (0.2%) In three starts with the Padres, Marquis has been world?s better than he was with the Twins. He struck out 10 in seven innings taking a hard-luck loss giving up two runs, five hits, and three walks to the potent Rangers. He?s 1-2 with a 1.86 ERA in 19.1 innings for San Diego.
Relief Pitcher- Vinnie Pestano ? Cle: (3.2%) Pestano picked up his AL leading 17th hold getting four outs with a walk and a strikeout and lowered his ERA to 2.00 in his 29 appearances for Cleveland. He?s an elite setup option in the Tribe ?pen and one of the anchors of their greatly improved bullpen.
