WinZip debuts on Android without annoying nag window
Remember WinZip? The seminal application you?d use to expand the first few compressed archives you downloaded in the late 90s? It?s back and it?s gone mobile. The app came out earlier this year on iOS, but its Android release is a much better fit, as you can actually manipulate files directly on the platform.
The app supports file viewing not only for compressed archives such as .zip and .rar but images such as .jpg and .png. This means that you can use it as a basic file manager, too, despite the some basic limitations with the interface. Mainly you?ll use the app to ?download and expand archives, but apps such as ES File Explorer have been doing this for ages already. The company touts its main features as follows:
- View supported file formats directly within the WinZip app. Easily open other popular formats with 3rd-party app integration.
- Open encrypted Zip files (including AES128 and AES256) to review sensitive material safely while on the go.
- Copy unzipped content to the clipboard to paste into an email or another application. Save the last extracted zip file to access at later time.
If you?re in need for an app like that, or just trust the name of a proven brand, hit up Google Play for more information.
