It sounds like Keith Urban has fatherhood all figured out.
In an interview with GQ Australia magazine, the handsome country crooner, who has girls Sunday Rose, 4, and Faith Margaret, 1, with his wife Nicole Kidman, explains pretty perfectly why parenthood is such a wonderful, difficult job.
?Being a husband and a father is a horrendous responsibility but it?s a beautiful opportunity as well,? Keith says. ?I?m always balancing the need to encourage the girls? freedom and not impose on their own journey with that primal need of the father and husband to protect and guide them every step of the way.?
So well put. I think we all struggle to find that balance sometimes: Wanting our kids to experience the world and discover their place in it, but also always making sure they?re safe and sound.
Keith also heaps praise upon his wife of six years, who he has credited with helping him to get and stay sober.
?Negativity and doubt are always creeping into my life and having to be kept at bay. Thankfully, Nic is great at calling me on it, and our marriage is at the stage where she doesn?t have to say anything. I hear myself prattling on with negative crap and her loaded silence shuts me up,? he admits.
They seem like a great little family.
What do you think of Keith?s description of parenthood? Can you relate?
